Board of Editors

The Journal is a fully student-run legal publication. Its Board of Editors is composed of students who underwent a rigorous admissions and training process. The Board has the primary responsibility of editing and producing each issue of the Journal and has the secondary responsibility of fulfilling other administrative functions to ensure the continuous operation of the Journal.

Ma. Carmel M. Baquilod

Member, Executive Committee, A.Y. 2018-2019

Ma. Carmel M. Baquilod graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2015 with a degree in B.S Economics. She is currently a fourth year law student at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. She joined the Board of Editors of the Journal in 2016 for its 61st volume and was the Associate Lead Editor for the fourth issue of the same volume. She is currently a member of the Executive Committee and the head of the Finance Committee. She is the Lead Editor of the second issue of the 63d volume. She previously co-authored Testing Constitutional Waters IX: The Constitutional Parameters of the Exercise of Executive Powers in Non-International Armed Conflict Situations (62 Ateneo L.J. 352 (2017)) with Dean Sedfrey M. Candelaria. She is also an intern for the Ateneo Human Rights Center.

Angelo Francesco F. Herbosa

Member, Executive Committee, A.Y. 2018-2019

Angelo Francesco F. Herbosa graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2015 with a bachelor of science degree in Management, minor in International Business. He is currently a fourth year law student at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. He is a member of the Executive Committee, head of the Distribution Committee, and co-head of the Layout Committee. He is also the Lead Editor of the first issue of the 63d volume. He joined the Board of Editors of the Journal for its 61st volume and was an Associate Lead Editor for the third Issue of the same volume. His published works are Testing Constitutional Waters VIII: Coming Full Circle with the Application of Executive Power and Judicial Consistency in Marcos v. Manglapus and Ocampo v. Enriquez, 62 Ateneo L.J. 1 (2017), co-authored with Dean Sedfrey M. Candelaria, and An Overview of Environmental Protection Law and Policy in the Philippines: From PSNR to the Implications of the Paris Agreement with the WTO, 62 Ateneo L.J. 384 (2018), co-authored with Ambassador Manuel A.J. Teehankee and Atty. Allan G. Revote.

Jason L. Sy

Jason L. Sy graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2015 with a degree in B.S. Management, Major in Management Engineering, and a Minor in Philosophy. He is currently a third year law student at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. He is a member of the Executive Committee, head of the Information Systems Committee, and co-head of the Layout Committee. He joined the Board of Editors of the Journal for its 61st volume in 2016 and was the Associate Lead Editor for the third issue of the same volume. His published works are Gone Without a Trace: A Re-examination of Bank Secrecy Laws and Anti-Money Laundering Laws in Light of the 2016 Bangladesh Bank Heist, 62 Ateneo L.J. 90 (2017), co-authored with Dean Jose Maria G. Hofileña, and Discovery of Trade Secrets: A Procedural Quagmire, 62 Ateneo L.J. 1218 (2018), co-authored with Jayme A. Sy, Jr. 

Patrick Edward L. Balisong

Editor, A.Y. 2018-2019

Patrick Edward L. Balisong graduated cum laude and Program Awardee from the Ateneo De Manila University in 2016, with a degree in A.B. Social Sciences, Specialization in Cultural Heritage, and a Minor in History. He is currently a third year law student at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. He joined the Board of Editors of the Journal for its 62d volume. He was the Associate Lead Editor for the second Issue of the same Volume. He is a member of the Journal's Layout and Distribution Committees. He is also a Research Assistant for the Fr. Joaquin G. Bernas, S.J. Institute for Continuing Legal Education, and the co-head of the Administration Committee of the Ateneo Law School’s Central Bar Operations.

Kathleen Traci P. del Rosario

Editor, A.Y. 2018-2019

Kathleen Traci P. del Rosario graduated from the University of Asia and the Pacific in 2017 with degrees in B.A. in Humanities and M.A. in Communication major in Integrated Marketing Communications. She is currently a second year law student at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. She joined the Board of Editors of the Journal for its 63d Volume, and is the Associate Lead Editor for the second issue of the same Volume. She is also a member of the Journal's Subscription, Distribution, and Office Committees.

John Jacob D. Kaufman

Editor, A.Y. 2018-2019

John Jacob D. Kaufman graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2014 with a degree in B.S. Management, with a minor in Decision Science. He is currently a fourth year law student at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. He joined the Board of Editors of the Journal in 2017 for its 62d Volume, and was the Associate Lead Editor for the fourth Issue of the same Volume. He is currently the head of the Journal’s Office committee, and a member of both the Distribution committee and Subscription committee. He is also currently the Lead Editor for the third issue of the 63d Volume of the Journal.

Sergio Luis M. Mercado

Sergio Luis M. Mercado graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2017, with a degree in A.B. European Studies, Major in International Business and Economics, and Minor in Spanish. He is currently a second year law student at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. He joined the Board of Editors of the Journal for its 63d Volume, and is the Associate Lead Editor for the third Issue of the same Volume. He is currently a member of the Journal's Layout and Information Systems Committees.

John Stephen B. Pangilinan

John Stephen B. Pangilinan graduated from the University of the Philippines Diliman Extension Program in Pampanga with a degree in B.A. Business Economics. He is currently a third year student at the Ateneo Law School. He joined the Board of Editors of the Journal for its 62d volume in 2017, and was the Associate Lead Editor for the third Issue of the same Volume. He is currently a member of the Journal's Layout and Information Systems Committees. He is also a member of the Ateneo Central Bar Operations for Academics Committee.

Jose Ryan S. Pelongco

Editor, A.Y. 2018-2019

Jose Ryan S. Pelongco graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2010 with a degree in B.S. Legal Management, with minors in English Literature and Enterprise Development (under the John Gokongwei School of Management Business Accelerator Program). He is currently a third year law student at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. He joined the Board of Editors of the Journal in 2017 for its 62d Volume, and was the Associate Lead Editor for the third Issue of the same Volume. Currently, he is a member of the Journal's Finance Committee and is the head of its Subscription Committee. He is also an intern for the Ateneo Human Rights Center, a member of the law school's Magna Carta Committee, and a co-head of Transportation for the Ateneo Central Bar Operations.

Katrina Isabelle G. Pimentel

Katrina Isabelle G. Pimentel graduated with honors from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2017, with a degree in B.S. Communications Technology Management, and a Minor in English Literature. She is currently a second year law student at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. She joined the Board of Editors of the Journal for its 63d volume. She is the Associate Lead Editor for the second Issue of the same Volume, and a member of the Journal’s Finance and Subscription Committees. She is also a member of the Administration Committee of the Ateneo Law School’s Central Bar Operations. 

Rea Irish Michelle R. Pintor

Rea Irish Michelle R. Pintor graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2015 with a degree in B.S. Legal Management, and a Minor in Development Management. She is currently a fourth year law student at the Ateneo de Manila School of Law. She joined the Board of Editors of the Journal for its 62d volume in 2017 and was the Associate Lead Editor for the second Issue of the same Volume. She is a member of the Journal's Office, Distribution, Secretariat Committees, and is the Lead Editor for the fourth Issue of the 63d Volume.  She is also a member of the Academics Committee of the Ateneo Law School Central Bar Operations.

Frances Christine P. Sayson

Frances Christine P. Sayson graduated cum laude from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2017, with a degree in A.B. Literature (English). She is currently a second year law student at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. She joined the Board of Editors of the Journal for its 63d volume. She is a member of the Journal's Layout and Office Committees. She is also a member of the Academics Committee of the Ateneo Law School’s Central Bar Operations.

Korina D. Torres

Korina D. Torres graduated from De La Salle University in 2015 with a degree in B.S. Legal Management. She is  currently a second year law student at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. She joined the Board of Editors of the Journal for its 63d volume in 2018, and is the Associate Lead Editor for the fourth Issue of the same Volume. She is a member of the Journal’s Information Systems, Office, and Distribution Committees. She is likewise a member of the Hotel Services Committee of the  Ateneo Law School Central Bar Operations.

John Paulo S. Vicencio

John Paulo S. Vicencio graduated from Ateneo de Davao University in 2016 with an A.B. Political Science degree, a Minor in Philosophy. He is currently a third year law student at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. He joined the Board of Editors of the Journal for its 62d volume in 2017, and is the Associate Lead Editor for the fourth Issue of the same Volume. He is likewise a member of the Journal’s Information Systems, Office, and Distribution Committees.
